Blog Post number 8

Literary Term Entries:

     Narrator/ Point of View:
The Narrator/Point Of View in the Book "The Lost Hero," it's first person, and the narrator changes from chapter to chapter, the narrator of each chapter ranges from Jason, to Piper, to Leo. I say this because the narrator(s) use words such as the word I. It's also first person because you can see well... "read" the character's thoughts.

Mood: The sorts of emotions that are giving to me in "The Lost Hero," are heartwarming, sympathy, joy, anger, disgust, romantic/romance, and in makes me stay in awe. I say this because it heartwarming and so romantic when the main characters interact. For example, the authors uses actions and words so powerful that make you feel like they're going to be a "thing." Sympathy because Piper is going through a tough decision that makes her pick between her friends or her dad. Anger and disgust because of the Cabin Leader that tries to make Piper's Life tough. I makes me stay in awe when the battles begin. For example, Leo fighting 3 cyclops and defeating them while still being able to save Jason and Piper.

Tone: The Tone of the author in the book "The Lost Hero," was a mix of feelings. From anger to joy. I say this because in the Piper and Drew interactions, the author added drama and anger. Joy in when the three main character's interact. It's either from in the beginning when you get introduced into the new characters, and from when they all escape the cyclop's "attack. These are some of example in the tone of the author, ranging depending on the events.

Blog Post 7

While reading "The Lost Hero," I noticed a similarity in both real life and inside the book. In both books real world places and events are shown. For example, they mention Chicago which is in actual real life. This can be shown on page 225. They also, well, the show is about Greek Gods (and Roman because I want to say their the same but the God and Goddess change depending on their realm form. This can be proven by page 223. It shows how the God Changed from his Greek form to his Roman form. Another similarity is how the main character has a friend who knows French, and I have a friend that knows French... just some similarities that I've found while reading the book "The Lost Hero."

Page 317,
"He shouted her name again, in his mind he saw Chuck, falling on the ground, covered in blood, and Newt's bulging eyes. Three of the closets friends he'd ever had. And WICKED had taken them all away from him."

I picked this paragraph because this is some of the most "important" moments in Thomas's life. His friend Chuck death was in the first book, Thomas grieved even more because he promised Chuck that he would see his mother. Chuck's death was to protect Thomas. A knife was being thrown at Thomas, and Chuck jumped in the saved Thomas's life by ending his own. Newt's death was in this book, it was when he was in a Crank-life Stage where he was going to pure pain by not being able to keep his Sanity due to him being affected by "The Flare." Newt begged Thomas to kill him, so that he wouldn't be living the life he had, he didn't want to be a full on Crank. So Thomas shot Newt, and told No one, because he couldn't even look at what he had done to Newt. "Her name" was Teresa. This also happened in the same book. The maze was full of explosions, pieces and chunks of the roof was just falling all over the place. Long story short, she dies by pushing Thomas out of the way of a huge chunck of roof falling onto him, so Teresa dies saving Thomas. These are the reasons of why I picked this passage.

5 Questions that popped into my head while reading the books...

  1. Did "The Rat Man" know he had the flare?
  2. Did "The Right Arm" want to stop WICKED or destroy WICKED?
  3. Did Teresa follow along with WICKED because she didn't want to make the sacrament?
  4. Who knew about the final Sacrifice?
  5. Did Tomas truly become a murdere?

Winter Over Break Work

(I had to talk about all the books before it so people can understand it. It said I wrote 499 words, therefore I am okay with the minimum word count needed for the Over Break Homework.)
My Book is called "The Maze Runner Death Cure," a dystopian type book written by James Dashner. This is the third book out of four so far. In the first book we learn about the main character named Thomas who is immune to a disease called The Flare which has almost wiped out people worldwide. There is an organization called WICKED,  who's purpose is to find a cure to this disease. In the first book we get introduced to our main character Thomas, as well as the Maze. In the maze there is one area that is the "safe-zone" where they basically eat sleep, and do their chores and what not. Only boys are in the maze though but their not alone. There are creatures that kill the people... these creatures are called Grievers. Everything is okay until one day a girl is dropped into the Glade (what the people called the area) and things go crazy. First the sun disappears, the walls then won't close therefore letting and allowing the Grievers to come to their safe zone, this is what the people called the End which is when they decide to try to escape once and for all. We also get introduced to more characters but that doesn't matter because they both die off later on trying to escape in which few of them do. The few of them escape, they meet WICKED, people break in into Wicked's lair and kill most of the people there except for Thomas and his friends. They rescue them, Thomas and friends are now outside if the maze. That was all what happened in the first book in little detail. On the second book they go to a refugee camp like area. In night we the readers see what they later on call Cranks which is a zombie like person that is the outcome of the virus FLARE. The people who rescued the died by these Cranks. Thomas and friends then go and get the girl with whom they've met before who's name is Teresa. She wasn't in her refugee camp, instead of a kid. We find out later on that WICKED had two exact same mazes, but the only difference is that one maze had all girls but one boy, and the other (Thomas's) had only boys and one girl. They go through the Scorch Trials, they make it to the safe heaven. That was what happened in vague detail in the second book. In the the third book... we find WICKED's true hideout. We find out that everything before that was all part of WICKED and they planned it all. Everything reaction and action. Thomas and friends escape and are going to Denver to take out a chip that they all have that makes it so that WICKED can't find them and manipulate them. In Denver they know a guy that worked with WICKED before then he quit and will be willing to help them take out the chip.

My Book I've been reading

My Book that I've been reading is called "The Maze Runner Deatn Cure," a dystopian type book written by James Dashner which has a total of 324 pages. The book is about a virus that has wiped out many people in the world while a group called WICKED tries to find a cure. So far in the book, the main character Thomas and his friends Minho, Newt, Jorge, and Brenda have escaped the head quarters of WICKED and are in Denver right now. WICKED's methods to find the cure are extreme by throwing what they call variables at the teenagers because some of them are immune and WICKED grabbed them, then threw them into a Maze and Scorch Trials to see how the people who are and the people who aren't immune react to the situation. Now, Tomas and his friends are talking to Gally, a old aquitance who has a bad back story with Thomas and his friends to try to talk to them about how the world is slowly dying out. That is in conclusion what is going on in my book.
